I met Scott and Bob Desmond last night for the fireworks at the ferry dock. ; I think that I got some of my best fireworks images yet. ; I thought I would share a few with you. ; The rest are in my gallery under fireworks, or you can go over to my Flickr page and see them as well, for those that are on Flickr

That's nice Scott, I like it a lot. ; It seems that we took a photo at the same time. ; LOL! ; Here is my tight shot of your wide one.

Jeff, you certainly had more pull with the crop factor. ; I like the close up a lot. ; We could make a print with them.

John, Bob kept talking about getting the reflection in the water and made sure I got it. ; Here's some more.

Before the show, a photo of the ice castle

And here's Bob at work. ; He had set up two cameras, a Nikon D300 and D7000, on tall tripods to make sure he was above anyone's head. ; He used a stool to compose his shots and releases to trip the shutters during the show. ; Both lenses where 18-200VR's with 3-stop ND filters on them.

Nice work both of you - love those ND firework shots - nice and crisp and good color. ; Jeff - what ND do you use (how many stops?)...I'm debating if I should bring my 8-stopper, or just stick with 2 or 3 stoppers.

Justin, they were using 3 stop ND filters. ; I don't have any yet, and was not using one at all. ; I was shooting 8 second frames at f22 and 120mm. ; I post processed them with picnik.com's vibrance option, and I think that I got almost the same coloring as if I had a filter.

Good to know! ; Maybe I'll just bring the 3-stopper then. ; I've never shot fireworks with NDs but the results are always nice when I see them here - I may not even get the chance this trip to shoot fireworks, but I'll bring the filter just in case.
