My one-day trip to Disney on my way to Tampa for business proved very fruitful...for the first time, I was able to shoot this show (and see it!), which I hadn't managed in June. ; This is the entire series of shots of the Magic, Memories, and You lightshow projection sequence on Cinderella's Castle. ; I was able to set up dead-center with my NEX3 and 18-55mm lens and a tripod, and set ISO to 800 so I could fire fast short shutter sequences of 1-4 seconds to capture many of the changing scenes. ; I left out a few of the less interesting ones in between, or the moving sequences from one to another, but these are most of the main full color changes and projections through the 15 minute or so show: Before it started, the castle just looked nice and pretty: Then it went to a great warm orange: Then the show was on:
Very nice series Justin. ; You were able to capture them well. ; Personally I just don't like it - I know what they were trying to do but it's just "meh" to me.
I never took the time out to see it until that night, but I actually enjoyed it. ; Though admittedly, I was viewing it mostly from a photographic point of view - I liked the bold lighting changes and colors it produced for the shots.
Very cool Justin! ; We are going to take a look this week and see what it's all about. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Excellent series, Justin, but you missed my favorite scene: I've also watched the show from the Liberty Square bridge. ; They project a subset of the show on the sides of the castle. ; If the hub is packed, and you've seen the show before, I recommend enjoying the show from there while eating an ice cream cookie sandwich from Sleepy Hollow.
Yep - I did miss that one - I actually took a shot just as I saw the fireworks go, but I was a second or two late, so I ended up with a mostly dark castle and a smoke streak. ; Now that I know to expect that, I can be ready next time! Nice tip on the Frontierland too...this time the park was very uncrowded, and I was standing right on the edge of the street dead-center with my tripod - I only arrived there about 6 minutes before the show was starting, so it was strange to get such a good spot for any Disney show on no notice!
Thanks for sharing Justin! ; I am going to have to see this sometime before it ends. ; It looks like an interesting show.
Thanks all. ; I really enjoyed it photographically - it's almost like shooting with Topaz and Photoshop built into your camera - all the different effects look like something you create using software - hard to believe they're straight from the camera until you've seen the show live!
