After Pixelmania's Animal Kingdom day, I took advantage of the 1am hours over at MK to head there after dinner with the goal of doing some slow shutter night shots in some of the lands where I have neglected to shoot in the past. ; A perfect opportunity presented itself as I entered a few minutes before Wishes - having seen it plenty of times, I skipped the massive crowds on Main Street and circled over to Adventureland to start my whirlwind tour around the lands during the fireworks show - the rest of the park was nearly deserted, which made it a pleasure. ; Then as the night grew later, I worked my way through Tomorrowland and back to Main Street where I ran into some Pixelmaniacs on their way in after Epcot, and hit some train station shots down Main Street with the flagpole REMOVED!!! ; Here's my tour: Adventureland: Though the intention wasn't to shoot the fireworks, they were perfectly visible from Adventureland, so I squeezed them in: I don't think I ever realized quite how pretty Tiki Room is at night: Pirates was empty!: Splash Mountain...look - even some stars visible (a rarity in Florida, but it was fortunately a cool clear night): Peaceful down by Big Thunder: Liberty Belle sitting pretty: Aunt Polly's, as pretty as can be: A little Liberty Bell action with Independence Hall in the background: Haunted Mansion lit to the hilt: Spinning Carousel and castle: Dumbo doing an impression of Saturn's rings: Space Mountain, and the moon: The metal trees: Riding the TTA - note the LEDs changed to all red or green for Christmas: Tomorrowland...neon alive!: The Christmas Castle in it's glory: Main Street: From the station...no flagpole!: The wide view of the street and the castle...no flagpole and no Xmas tree: Comments, questions, critique welcome. ; I love nighttime photography!
I couldn't agree more Tim! ; I wish I could see the photo's Justin, but I'll have to wait till I get home for that. (Work system blocks some photo hosting sites )
Very nice Justin!! It sure is nice to wander around the "World" at night. It something I look forward to on every trip.
Im such a sucker for nighttime shots of the Liberty Bell. ; LOVE the Main Street shots! The garlands were back up today but it was too gray to get any pretty shots.
Awww...that happened to us the first day - at least early on. ; The night cleared and got pretty good, but that was MVMCP night which I didn't attend...that's why I went back on the 3rd night after AK...to make up for what I didn't get the first day. Thanks all for the kind words and the look-see!
Thanks Joe! ; That was a particular mission of mine this time, as in dozens of years of Disney World trips, I still had no night shots in Adventureland or Frontierland.
Justin, these pictures are wonderful! Just great stuff! Love the Tom Sawyer Island and Haunted Mansion ones the best. One of these days I'll learn to take night pictures. But first, I must learn the basics!
Great work Justin. I'm envious. ; I love the night stuff, the light is so much more focused on the subjects, and you don't have all that mid-day central Florida haze in the sky. Thanks for posting the link to the thread. I'll try to stay up late enough to get over to the parks when I'm there next week. Regards, Boris
Thanks Boris. ; It's worth it, if you can muster the energy to make it late one night. ; I love staying late at least one night at MK and at Epcot when I'm up there - basically close the parks and linger long after people are working their way towards the exits. ; Great photo time!
Nice Shots. I like #2. I always like seeing things like the fireworks from a different perspective. I need to start working on my night shooting at Disney. I keep telling myself to just suck it up and take the tripod into the park at night.
Thanks all. ; I actually split from the group that night after AK as they were going to Epcot instead, and I really wanted to get some night shots around the Kingdom. ; Well, by midnight, I ran into some Pixelmaniacs on Main Street just entering after Epcot, when I was just wrapping up! If anyone's there the last week of January, let me know - I will be, and I'll be looking to shoot some more!
