    So we finally had a typical Florida thunderstorm here where we are living now, AND I remembered to get the camera and tripod out. ; So here is a look at what I think is the best that I got.

    The storm took a break for a while, and is only now ending with round two, BUT I think that I am going to have to work at this a little more and see what other splendors I can get. ;

    Well that's just not fair at all - barely even settled the furniture in Florida and you've already gotten a lightning shot! ; Took me many years to get even a halfass one - and I still haven't been able to get any lately due to having no view from any part of my house except standing in the open on the pool deck under 40-foot trees (basically, a bad idea in lightning).

    Nice work - looks like you were smart enough to be inside behind glass?

    Thanks guys!

    Justin, I have the advantage, that I am in a two story house, at ; the top of a hill (YES I SAID HILL! My house is about 200 feet above sea level according to my GPS and I have no old trees around to block any view of the South and West. ; To my East, I am clear but there are houses in the foreground, and to the North I have only one small window). SO, I should be able to get a lot of these for the foreseeable future. ; I just hope that I can figure out a way to avoid the rain on the window, but if not, I am ok with that if I can continue to get stuff like this and better.

    As long as the rain's not coming in at you (which sometimes it may not), you can always open the window and pop off the screen (assuming you have one). ; Or if you have a non-screened patio or overhang - that's where I've tried to shoot from myself, but unfortunately my house is pretty jungley all around.

    Well, it happened again last night! ; We had an awesome display of mother nature right out the back windows of our house, and I didn't let it go without another attempt at trying to capture it. ; This time, the storm was far enough to our west that we didn't have any rain here, so I didn't have to contend with that while trying to photograph the storm. ; Here are a few of my favorites. ; The only processing done, was cropping, otherwise they are straight from the camera.

    Thanks guys! ; I was happy to get these. ; I would like to be able to use like a 50mm prime, and try this to see what I get. ; I may also put one of my zoom lenses on and try to get a bit tighter next time.

    Great work, Jeff. ; There are too many trees around my house to get something like these. ; And there's that drought thing going on again this summer...
