My name is Jenn and I am a self proclaimed "Disney Freak". My friends however call me a "Disney Snob" which I think is probably closer to the truth. While I am obviously a fan of Disney Movies, my connection is honestly more with the WDW parks themselves. At a young age my family began taking me on trips to Orlando and then about 20 years ago my grandparents moved to a home less than a mile from the entrance to Downtown Disney. This opened up more opportunities for trips to the parks obviously because it was combined with visits to see them. Now that they have both passed, my memories of these visits are bitter sweet. I was 5 years old when Epcot opened and as a result the majority of my fond childhood memories are related to visits to that park in particular. Additionally because it houses so many memories for me, I tend to be more active in wanting to preserve it's originality (I fought for the return of Figment, I cried when Horizons was tore down, I remember with longing WOM and the original Energy Pavillion... etc.). Now as a mom to a wonderful 10 month old, I look forward to many more trips to the parks and the opportunity to see it through his eyes... the eyes of a child... again.
Hi, Jenn and welcome. I am sure you will find lots of good stuff here and lots of nice folks who can give you tips, pointers, and good Disney discussion. I am glad you joined and really hope you have a good time here.
Hey my first trip down to WDW was a few months before Epcot opened. Before the trees were as grown in as they were and you could see Spaceship Earth from the road to the MK. And it was my only flight on Eastern Airlines. The only other things to really do in town were Sea World and the Kennedy Spaceport. Welcome!
I know this thread is nearly 2 years old but I thought I'd go ahead and bump it to sort of reintroduce myself! Since this post my son is now 30 months old (that's 2.5 years for you non-mommy counters out there) and we've *sniff sniff* moved out of Florida and up to North Carolina. Instead of being a mere 2.5 hours away, we are now 9. As you can guess our trips have now become an annual thing rather than a monthly thing. Still, I find it's made them more special and has given me renewed interest in Disney photography. I shall continue to return to get as many tips as I can prior to our next trip in January. This will be a very special one as it's the first where we're adding a couple extra family members (my mother and step-father). I look forward to once again getting to know you all and sponging some expertise off of each of you! ;D
