Well, it was hot and humid this past week up at Disney. ; 95 daytime, 89 nighttime, 90%+ humidity throughout, chance of rain every day any day. ; The usual Florida summer weather. ; I managed to summon the will to haul around Epcot one night with tripod, to get some more of my favorite type of shooting - night shots. ; I took some of my 'usual' shots, as well as trying to fill in some gaps of shots I hadn't taken or hadn't taken well in the past. ; The rain stayed away, the night was clear despite the humidity and heat, and the colors were lovely. ; All shots were with my A550, and Sony 18-250 lens, on tripod. ; Here are some of my favorites to share: Spaceship Earth from the World Showcase circle, near the old McD fry hut: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411133/original.jpg Mexico pyramid after Illuminations: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411136/original.jpg Inside Mexico was empty as World Showcase had closed: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411137/original.jpg Looking across the lagoon from Mexico to Japan: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411139/original.jpg Norway's Stave church: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411140/original.jpg The always-lovely China temple: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411142/original.jpg Empty German village: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411143/original.jpg Quiet American Adventure: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411145/original.jpg Japan pavilion: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411146/original.jpg The pagoda: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411147/original.jpg France, dark and quiet: http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411149/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411150/original.jpg From across the 'river': http://www.pbase.com/zackiedawg/image/125411152/original.jpg (Larger 1024x pixel versions linked directly below each resized 800 pixel image) Comments, questions, critique always welcome. ; Hope you enjoyed the post-closing tour of World Showcase.
Beautiful shots, Justin. ; Did you do any color temperature adjustments? ; Most of them, especially China, look like they were cooled off whereas Germany has that warm incandescent tone we normally get with night photos.
Thanks guys. ; Dennis - I did manually set the white balance for many of them - the night was humid and I wanted to try to get some nice cool/warm contrast between the skies (blue) and the structures (yellows and reds)...so I was keeping an eye on the white balance while shooting, switching into live view mode and setting the WB on screen to get the look I wanted. ; Some of those pavilions come out incredibly warm - almost too much so (Sony colors lean towards warm as it is, so pushing too warm can blow out reds)...so in the past I've shot them much warmer, this time I controlled the WB a bit. ; All were shot JPEG, and are straight from camera - no adjustments in post, other than an occasional crop, or clone of a stray dot or flare.
Thanks all. ; World Showcase was pretty quiet as it was after close...of course the long exposures do a decent job of getting rid of the few people that did walk through the shots!
I'd say that you had a fairly good night of shooting there. ; I think the night time photography is what I am most looking forward to while I'm in Disney next spring. I finally have a camera that can take good night shots. Again, great shots!
Thanks all - much appreciated. ; The night shooting despite the heat yielded good enough results to make it worth the hot summer visit! ; It would have been nicer in cool weather...but that's hopefully for Pixelmania!
