Horse Carriage on Mackinac Island, Michigan

    This photo was taken outside of the Grand Hotel on Mackinac (for non-Michiganders it's pronounced Mackinaw) Island. ; The only forms of transportation on the island are bicycles and horses. ; No motorized vehicles are allowed on the island with the exception of an ambulance and fire engines. ; It is certainly a place unique in all the country. ; I recommend visiting it for at least a day sometime. ; One of the few places where one may experience the combined odors of fresh fudge and fresh horse manure!

    Lovely- I have not been there in probably a dozen years but my parents were just there two weeks ago. ; We use to boat there from Port Huron every year when I was a kid.
