USA Today - Smash hit High School Musical, already planning a TV sequel, will hit the big screen in fall 2008, Disney announced Thursday. Haunted High School Musical, set on Halloween, marks "a big idea we thought would be magnified by the movie screen," says Disney Channel Worldwide chief Rich Ross. Disney expects to begin negotiations soon with the original TV cast, which heads to Utah this month to film High School Musical 2. It's due on the Disney Channel in August. High School also has spawned last year's top album, a DVD that has sold 6.5 million copies, a concert tour, a book series and stage versions. All told, Disney expects $100 million in Musical profit by year's end.
