that's a great one roger. I wasn't able to get anything in the picture but the portrait itself.

Dude, RAW. I need to go back and show what the portrait looked like before recovering the highlights.

ooo another example of why I am glad that I switched to shooting RAW exclusively! I can't wait to see it.

I shot the mansion raw, and still cant get this quality. I just tried to do leota and it looks like crap!

ISO 6400 doesn't look too bad. It's grainy but it works here. Like an old photo colorized.

I used to be more on the noise removal bandwagon before, maybe it's just the way the noise presents itself vs. noise removal....

Anyway, here's the image with no highlight recovery and no highlight reduction (no NN):

And the original with Noise Ninja applied:

It looks really good. I love what noise ninja can do for dark ride stuff.

OK Roger! I'm not sure where this is in the ride, though.

Here is one I got shooting raw, and proccesed in bibble with the noise ninja plug in!
This makes for a good combo of processing. Now, fast enough shutter speeds are a bigger issue than exposure or noise.
I still only shoot dark rides RAW, though. JPEG for everything else!

Is this the first portrait of her?

Anyway, good shot! Did you set up a shooting menu for the dark rides to switch it to RAW for them?

no....I only have one menu set up, and I just make manual changes as I need. The d300 is so well set up with so many buttons and dials, that I find it much easier to just make individual changes as needed. So, here I just used the quality button on top, and switched from jpeg to RAW
