Thank you! And that compliment is amazing. What is your opinion of these versions? Only change is a white balance adjustment, but is it a "better" photo? Matter of taste I guess. IMO, the cooler temp gives the first ones more mood, but shooting for HDR realism, the ones in this post fit the order.
I like the first versions better (your mood comment is spot on, and makes the frame!). Did you make a contrast change in the second set too? Composition-wise, I personally like the 'monorail headed to frame right, imagination frame left'. The second frame lacks anything in the foreground, and for me, weakens the image as a whole. Great work!
Right on mPower! And yes! I did make a contrast/saturation change (checked my history), so I guess I got too caught up in the differences of white balance/tint and forgot. :-[ I like the sense of depth and line dynamics in the first frame. In the second frame, maybe if I had some foreground flowers and the monorail was at a more extreme angle and also complemented the curve of the shore, it would be more interesting. Or perhaps too complex and ultimately weaker. Yeah, the first one is technically better. Overall, I like the second one more, for the curves, clouds, and reflection. Thank you so much for your critique and comments!
tom, very nice sky. could you add just a touch of fill light to bring out the monorail train a bit? tanner, I still think those hdr's are amazing!
Wow! these are awesome tanner! I like the second set better. I like the saturation. plus, they seem brighter. nice one too figgy!!
I toyed with that shot so much, and ultimately concluded the best option was going for a "detailed silhouette" because the monorail was very noisy if I tried for any more detail in it. ; What I ended up doing was exposing the RAW twice via smart objects in CS3--once for the sky, once for the monorail. ; After that, I did some burning and dodging, too (which I see I flubbed in a couple of spots).
Here is one of mine [This attachment has been purged. Older attachments are purged from time to time to conserve disk space. Please feel free to repost your image.]
I tried to get some Epcot monorail shots on my last trip. ; Not very satisfied with what I came away with but here's one of them. Nikon D70/18-200VR, 1/80s, f/8, ISO 200, +0.3EV, 24mm focal length
I see what you were trying to do there Scott, and you're on the right track...perhaps later at night? ; I still like the colors from the fountain lights here.
The problem I was having was shutter speed. ; Any darker and my camera's ability to shoot fast enough to stop movement of the monorail was going away. ; I think I need to set the shot up earlier in the day. ; Also, a better angle, closer to the waterfall towards JIYI. ; Now, when I get back there with a D700, I should have better luck. ; I'll bag this yet.
