The only reason I have been looking forward to Fall is to take pictures of the beautiful colors. That time has finally come so I went to a local recreation area (retention pond that they built a path, a park and a patio around) and took my Canon A630 with me. Enjoy! <<This is called "Mine!" (Im not really happy with the multitude of garbage cans in this pic) If anyone else has or takes any great Fall pictures maybe we can create a thread!
I must admit I'm jealous since I live in a part of the country that's not privy to those amazing fall scenes. We just don't get that vast array of color down here. But we're not without fall beauty... after all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder (or camera-holder as the case may be). Not sure what the REAL name of this is but my mother-in-law calls it a "horse apple" because they used to feed them to their horses.
The weather around upstate NY the last few days has been perfect. Though this was taken in mid-day sun, you get the idea of how colorful it was in the Lake George, NY area where I visited over this past weekend. Nikon D70/18-200VR, 1/80s, f/18, ISO 200, EV +0.3, 112mm focal length.
The leaves are at their peak here in southern New Hampshire. They're about a week earlier than usual. [This attachment has been purged. Older attachments are purged from time to time to conserve disk space. Please feel free to repost your image.]
More from Lake George... Nature really did put on a show for us this Fall. Hope it doesn't mean an early Winter. :
Beautiful! I remember last year, it was late October before the colors really came out around upstate NY. We are about 2 weeks earlier this year.
these are outstanding, southern tier was just starting to peak last week, i was in syracuse for dirt week 10/7-10/12, and I-81 north of scranton up to about tully was looking good i'm driving furniture to verona saturday for a niece(finally has a house ), i plan on returning the scenic way sunday through the catskills, they should be about peak now
Great shots everyone! I think the colors being early is a good sign that there is a nasty winter in store for the mid-atlantic and northeast. Just a feeling, but we are due for one.
More Fall Foliage Here's a couple more The Western Maryland Scenic Railroad near Frostburg Maryland. I took this one while waiting for the train.
