In a move that would make a camera company quiver, a "bug" in the Droid software causes a weird issue with the camera's autofocus. It works for 24.5 days. Then it doesn't. For 24.5 days. http://www.wired.com/gadgetlab/2009/11/ ... -stranger/ Fortunately it appears that the AF will be working during Pixelmania, in case you have one of those phones.....
i set it to last 10 seconds... ; maybe it should be a bit easier to see... ; it will inform you of replies to your posts and to incoming PM's as well. pretty cool, huh?
I've been following the droid closely, since my treo has basically died (no screen). The stupid/funny thing about the droid camera is them bragging about 5 mp. Yes, ; the mp war is alive and well in the cell phone market. They may have 5 mp, but who cares when the lens is the size of a pencil eraser!
Similarly, apparently there is talk in the web-o-sphere about the HTC HD2 (not getting as much hype as the Droid, but still a very big deal in the smartphone market) having color balance problems. Well.. it's not clear, actually. ; Apparently the early reports were of pinkish color casts to the center of the image, but not evenly distributed, and HTC announced that it was a hardware problem and recommended people return effected units. ; But I just picked up a report on an RSS feed that now HTC is saying it's software, supposedly an issue of white balance. ; But.. ; you don't have a different white balance in the center of the image than the periphery! ; Anyway, they're promising some sort of software fix, now. As to why an AF routine would use a time stamp.. I dunno, but I can sort of guess. ; It takes time for an AF process to be carried out, right? ; I can't really imagine the details, but perhaps the focusing routine isn't simply a matter of "keep focusing until it looks sharp". ; Perhaps there's an element of timing to it.
