Sixty-one years ago today, July 17, 1955, Disneyland opened its gates and welcomed young and old alike to what became known as the happiest place on Earth. The 60th anniversary celebration is still going on and Sleeping Beauty castle continues to shine with Walt's magic.
Back in the day, the horses in New York City produced somewhere around 1000 tons of manure every day. Disneyland's problem is not so bad, and it's cleaned up quickly. Think of that the next time you ride a horsecar down Main Street USA.
