So my fiancee is obsessed with the Disneyland 30th Anniversary Celebration from 1985, and I want to give him an "official" recording as a wedding gift. I scoured the internet and called Disney customer service, but it seems like the special only exists as Youtube clips or VHS copies. I also didn't see any of these VHS tapes for sale on eBay or other sites. I was wondering if anyone is aware of official copies of the special, or ways to obtain proxies (e.g., VHS tapes)? Thanks!
There are a couple of web based programs that will allow you to convert a YouTube video into a recognizable format that can then be turned into a homemade dvd... If that ends up being your only option. Obviously a vhs or consumer DVD is the first choice (and the vhs could also be transferred to a personal use DVD). You might want to also try Jeff Lang(e)'s website as he has a ton of DVDs of past Disney attractions and shows. I do not believe they are too expensive either. And being an anniversary event, he might be more likely to have it.
I also suppose the reason you can't find anything on eBay is that any DVD shown would be a "bootlegged" copy. I did find a couple of those types of DVDs for sale with a quick search, but am usually a little weary of purchasing those over the Internet (unless they will be at a comic con near you that you can meet in person)... Or if they accept PayPal or some other type of protected payment. But mileage can vary with that.
Thanks RedOctober25! I will explore all of your suggestions, very helpful. I'm also wary of DVDs sold on eBay, especially for this sort of thing, but it may be my only option.
