I went outside this morning expecting arctic conditions. It is -18C here at home in the GTA but there is no wind. As long as your dressed properly and not required to spend all day out side it is bearable.

Looks like Winnipeg is currently -31C with windchills in the -40C's.

    This guy is tough.

Apparently it's pretty chilly here in Ottawa....I haven't been brave enough to head outside yet though....maybe in a little while

With windchill, it's -30C in Markham. I agree it wasn't that bad if dressed properly, and hopping into a car. But, here's how my morning walk to school went (we live 12 houses from the school):

step out of door - this isn't so bad. I don't know what all the fuss is about
by 3rd house - hhmmm ... I'm having a little problem filling my lungs with air
house 6 - cheeks are burning, good thing we have warm scarves wrapped up to our eyeballs
house 9 - eyes are watering because it's still really sunny and scarf is creating condensation on sunglasses, but strangely no tears fall ... water seems to be freezing in eyeballs
across the street to school - holy ; %$#@, it's cold
return walk home - now I can't seem to breathe well through my nose. It seems my nostrils are frozen stiff!
    Total time outside: 10 minutes

Luckily, they let the kids in immediately and they're keeping them in all day. It's supposed to be worse tomorrow.

On a positive note, I did get in the car later to go shopping and the roads/stores are empty. ; ;)

We are thankfully in a chinook of sorts, thankfully. ; All the snow is melting. ; Well except for the unexpected snowfall we did get today. ; But at least the temps are warmer. ; I don't have to worry about freezing, especially where I can't zip up any jacket I own right now.

Ok OK, only those, who like myself that worked outdoors today can comment on how cold it was here today in the toronto area. ;For the record it was bone chillin cold out today, and I had to keep remind myself that I will be in WDW in 12 days to make the day easier.... ; If thats not bad enough that I was outdoors today, I'm outdoors again tomorrow when its suppose to be even colder out.... ;Lucky me..
    Stay warm folks!

It is -20 in Halifax, Nova Scotia and a client from Ottawa said it felt like the Bahamas here compared to what he left behind in Ottawa.....I on the other hand wanted to cry I was so cold.

  11. yesterday was warmer, but I was pretty nervous Friday night when our power was glitching several times - esp. after hearing about the power outages in Toronto and the frozen water pipes and flooding in Montreal (did you see those photos? wow - cars in water)

Much milder today in the GTA. The Hamettes and I went tobogganing today.

  17. I was talking to my uncle in Orlando last night (the one who is a disney CM) - he was complaining about the cold. ; Said it was going down to 32 last night (that's a balmy 0 C). ; He needed a taste of my wind-aided -44 C last week... :) ... but apparently their cold affects shows. ; Spirit of Aloha was closed for the night, maybe tonight too.
