Characters in Flight balloon in the air at Downtown Disney

Dewayne Bevil from the Orlando Sentinel took the above photo this morning of the balloon that will eventually take guests 400 feet into the air at Downtown Disney. Dewayne is reporting the ride will be ready for guests next week.

Adults $16
Children $10

 

wicked .. I saw them building this when we were down for mousefest last year.

$16 a ride? Seems expensive to me.

 

That seems neat - but it must be a tethered ride of some sort not a regular hot air balloon ride (which sells for much more than $16) - I see the supports on the sides, and am guessing some of that is structure and some of that is there as set up...Presumably there's a basket seat. But I must be missing something. ; Would the balloon lift off the ground, and the tethers keep you from going too high?
