got a great show by a Cattle Egret today at Forsythe NWR. They hunt in fields for insects and small animals. They are called Cattle Egrets because they will walk behind cattle and the cattle kick up bugs while walking
Nice work there Howie...love the action shots with the flipping of the frog. Looks like your cattles don't have as much orange on them - I guess ours down here get much more colorful as they go through mating process, and the ones that stayed home don't bother to breed. This is a photo from a few weeks ago, to show you the colors ours are putting on. ; Most of the year they look like yours, but as they go into mating season, the orange feathers on the head and back become bolder, and the bill, face, and eyes all get very vibrant and colorful:
