    Disney must have invited the Canadian media to come this week. ; Not only was A-Channel Otawa broadcasting live, but even the Weather Netowrk is broadcasting from the World! ;

    Not only does Disney "invite" down the media.

    It pays for all of their air travel, meals, production costs, puts them up in hotels, provides them with satellite links, swag, technical support on site for free.

    It's not news it's infotainment.

    Unfortunately my employer doesn't permit us to cover stories that are paid for by the subjects. ;)

    In my 19 years in radio, I did get some freebies, but never a WDW trip. ; I did do a "working vacation" in Bermuda. ; What a beautiful place!

    The Disney gig is a great one if you can get it. I bumped into so guys I know who were working on City TV's breakfast television back in the March of 06. They were doing live hits with Jennifer Valentyne on Main Street in MK. I went in between live shots I chatted with them and kept getting the stink eye from Disney's Security. They loved it the would get up early do their live shots shoot some visuals for the next day and be done by 2:00 and spend the rest of the day in the parks or by the pool a the hotel.

    I've covered spring training for the Jays back in 1989 and the Jays and Expos in 96.

    Sounds great but traveling with 10 flight cases full of gear and working 14 hours day for 10 days straight with no time off and then have the boss grumble about the overtime when you get back is a bit of a downer.

    Best trip I had was back in the summer of 98 spent 10 days in Houston at the Johnson Space Center following Marc Garneau prepping for his 2nd space mission. That was awesome, see what how the astronaut's train, Canadarm simulator, Mission Control,space station mock up an only working 8 hours a day it was great.

    I was also commended by the folks at NASA for not saying "Houston we have a problem".

    I'd love to do a story at Disney but there isn't much chance of that happening.
