a new find

    been trying to figure out what this is and finally got an answer. I thought it was some kinda well fed warbler. I was way off.
    It is a Ruby Crowned Kinglet

    Very nice shot Howie. Your shots of small birds has me really wanting the 500mm lens!

    and it still isn't enough for me. I want the 600 f4 but that will never ever happen

    Nice find Howie! ; Never seen one of those before myself, but I'd probably be thinking it was some kind of warbler with an eating problem.

    Cute little guy. ; He's even banded. ; Looks like you and Brian are bored with the bigger birds lately. Best way to get closer is to observe where their favorite spot to perch on and get close to it and then wait...wait...wait. ; Tough to do with the insects this time of year.

    yea thats the plan Scott. sit in the car and wait near the trees where they land. thats how I got the cedar waxwing. now one Osprey nest at forsythe has a chick in it so I will be watching that too as it will be active with the parents fishing more to feed themselves and the chick.
