This is one of our cacti called Rebutia Muscular. We got a big bloom this year and as always they are a brilliant orange. Good contrast to the white needles on the cacti. I had gotten a couple of comments on this shot of people who thought it was selective color and like I told them, it is not. I didn't realize how much it looked like selective color until it was brought to my attention. These cacti really look like that where the tiny white needles are so thick that they almost blot out the green cactus behind them.

Love those, but they are not one-year-old and three-year-old friendly!

Thanks all for the comments. Getting a cactus to bloom is a very tricky process. If anyone said that taking care of cactus was easy, was right. If you just want to keep them alive. To get them to florish and bloom, it's like having a hundred plus spikey children. Most cacti have to reach down to a certain temperature to go dormant over the winter (and winter is different for some cacti) otherwise they will not bloom the following spring or summer. Again, thanks for the comments. ; ;D
