The ostrich pulled its head out of the sand, took a look around, gasped in horror and stuck its head back into the sand. "Maybe things will be better in a couple of years" it thought.

The male lion was on display, but was still in B mode.

Remember when we took the Wild Africa Trek and the guide described a hippo's primary activities as "Sleep, eat, dung shower"? Guess which one this is.

I don't know about the dung shower, but the hippos are right about that sleep thing.

BARELY got a glancing look at this as the truck sped up and I shot between the rocks and vultures - a quick peek at the baby hippo last February, with momma giving it a nudge:

I wanted to caption this "That's mine" but thought territory marking might ruin my image on Flickr. (No, it wasn't doing that, but it looks like a possibility.)

I'm always amazed at how easy it is to get close-up shots of the Greater Kudu from a safari truck.

Even with that long neck, sometimes you need just a few more inches of reach to get at the good stuff:

Have an itch that you can't scratch? Then just evolve a pair of back scratchers on your head, like the Ankole cattle did.
