    Two funny scenes, same day, same trail. First, in the hippo underwater viewing area, an egret seemed to be standing on water in the middle of the pond...until his hidden perch rose to take a breath:

    The hippo submerged again, and the bird never moved.

    Then, next down the trail in the meercat area, I found the handlers feeding the cats, which led to this adorable little guy getting his bite to eat:
