I feel like I'm posting this on one of the deadest boards here, with no posts or updates since September 2016...but there's not really any other place it's appropriate...so I'll bring back a zombie board!

I just booked a few Disney trips in between now and Pixelmania...it took me a while to figure out my schedule for the summer and into fall, so sort of last-minute booking in the case of the June trip. Unfortunately, I had planned on going to Fort Wilderness Cabins this June, but they were all sold out by the time I got around to booking yesterday...I suspect they might be undergoing refurbs too, as they were last year - that might be taking a few loops out of contention which makes it sell out a little sooner.

Oh well - so as a last-minute DVC booking, I already knew my only options were going to be Saratoga Springs or Old Key West (indeed that was the case), so I booked a Saratoga Springs villa preferred view, request for Congress Park location for easy walking to Disney Springs, arriving June 9, and departing June 13. As summers will just be hot and humid and mostly miserable, this trip is about taking it easy, not heading out to the parks until probably 1-2pm each afternoon, staying through evenings, and seeing the new AK Pandora section and Rivers of Light show.

I also booked my September trip for Food & Wine - heading up September 15, and departing Sep 19th. For this trip, I was able to get my home resort Boardwalk - definitely preferable for Food and Wine since it's right there. Got a preferred view villa, and requested near lobby/center of resort - we'll see how that pans out.

Then Pixelmania in December...that will wrap up my 2017 Disney trips. If anyone's going to be up there during the June or September hours, and want to bump into eachother, meet up, or completely avoid me, let me know!

Enjoy. I'm having a drought year - just got back from Disneyland and won't be in Florida until Pixelmania. To top it all off, Yehaa Bob is paying a visit to Indianapolis in August, but I'll be out west with my sister.

I put this out there on another board, not sure which one.

I will be at Boardwalk (for the first time) this July 18th-26th

Father-Daughter Trip for my birthday from Sept. 20-24 staying at Bay Lake. This works great as my daughter would like to be the last one to leave Magic Kingdom one night, and the short walk back will be nice.

Then Pixelmania for me as well.

Miss you by a day @zackiedawg

@ddindy isn't August when you will be right in the middle of that eclipse?

@jbwolffiv That's correct, right near the center of totality and initial landfall. And a couple of days later, we're off to Hawaii. So it's not like I'm sitting at home feeling sorry for myself..

John - Indeed missing my *That much*! Oh well...I rarely bump into anyone on the June trips as not too many people are stupid enough to visit Orlando in the dead summer...I count among the stupid because I'm even stupid-er...I LIVE in Florida in the summer...so Orlando's heat isn't anything I'm not getting at home anyway. September I'll likely be entertaining some family coming up with me, plus a few local friends I usually meet up for Food & Wine...that trip goes by fast.
I'm mostly looking forward to checking out the newer stuff over at AK this June - I got fast passes for the Na'vi river ride, but couldn't get any for the banshee ride - I'll have to check the standbys to see if it's worth waiting through - maybe the very very late extra magic hours (1am) it might thin out.

Am I right that it is on August 21? I want to make sure that I have THAT planned that day. I know that here in NJ we wont get the same effect, but will see some of it.

Well, put my wife and I in the stupid group. The only summer we have NOT been in WDW since 2004 was last summer when we did Disneyland instead. As teachers, we have to be "stupid" but have gotten the "it's too hot in the summer in Florida" down to a science. Mornings in the parks, afternoons in the pools, return around 7 pm for the evening. Hot, but very manageable.

That's similar to my strategy, except the morning part. I sleep in until 10am, hang around the villa or resort until lunchtime, go somewhere for lunch at the resort or another...and don't enter the parks sometimes until 2-3pm at the earliest. Hit a few rides, take a break around 6-7pm for dinner, then back to the parks where I'll stay until the latest available hours. Usually back to the villa at 12:30-2am, read for a bit, go to bed around 3am...then start all over the next day.

@jbwolffiv I started a 2017 solar eclipse thread. There's a link to a map that, when you click on a location, gives you details of when the eclipse starts and ends and how much of the sun is covered.

Guess that means I should add my upcoming trips... My next trip will be Sept. 18th thru the 28th (with the 18th-22nd being on the Disney Dream). Looking forward to it sooo much. Can't wait to ride a few coasters. After that is PixelMania (12/1-12/14). And then I'm hopefully getting back in March for a short trip (maybe a week instead of 10-14) after a quick cruise with my college friend. And yes, I'm counting days to each one...

Looks like we'll be missing fairly close too in September - I'll be gone before you get off your cruise.

But - we all have Pixelmania on the schedule!

Looks like I'll actually be there for one full day when you're there. Flights out of Chicago were cheaper on Saturday rather than our initial Sunday thought. So the friends I'm cruising with decided that if we are going to be "stuck" in Florida for an extra day we might as well stay at Disney. So I'll be at Kidani the evening of the 16th thru the morning of the 18th. Then back at OKW from the 22nd to 28th as planned.

Well if you're up for bumping into one another that day, let me know - we'll get in touch before heading up there and maybe pick a spot to grab a drink, lunch, etc.

Sounds like a nice plan. I'm thinking we might try and hit Pandora that day so maybe a quick stop at Nomad Lounge. But anything (even a resort) will do. I'll let you know once it gets a little closer.

Seeing as it's under a month now I thought I'd check back in to see if you were still interested in grabbing a bite on Sunday the 17th. The fastpasses I have are Navi River Journey at 12:25-1:25 then Everest around 5. I went ahead and made an ADR at Tiffin's at 1:15 if you wanted a full meal but I can cancel it if you'd rather eat/hang at Nomad Lounge... and any time between 1:15 to ~ 4:00 would be fine, though I'd say lunch would be more ideal than mid afternoon.

Lunch sounds perfect - and Tiffin's would be good for me - combine that with Nomad lounge before or after. I hadn't planned out my park days yet (still haven't even bothered to look at Fast Passes - I'm really slow with that stuff)...so I'll make that AK day. On the 15th, I'll arrive probably around 3pm, check in, head over to DHS since it's a really quick walkaround with so much closed, then head over to Disney Springs for the night to walk around and grab a bite. Saturday I'll probably do Epcot F&W...so Sunday the 17th will be for AK, and Monday the 18th I'll hit MK.

I'll probably plan to get to AK around noonish that day anyway, so earlier for lunch would work well - we can target 1:15pm - whoever gets there early just hang in the Nomad Lounge.

Sounds like a plan... see you around 1:15-ish at the Nomad Lounge.

Well MOSTLY cleaned up from the hurricane, pool is clear of 900 lbs of debris, water is blue again, yard has been mowed and leaf-blown and all trees and branches cut down, cut up, and piled 8-feet-high across the entire front yard along the road. Disney World appears mostly unscathed and operating, so all plans intact to head up tomorrow. Looking forward to the break - I REALLY need it now!
Jeff - I'll see you at 1-1:15pm at Nomad on Sunday, Sep 17.
