HATS

Discussion in 'Digital Cameras & Equipment' started by rickenmartin78, Apr 21, 2015.

  1. I'm in need of a good photography sun hat. I want one that I can work in, and take to the parks. Ball caps get in the way when using my DSLR. I end up bumping the brim, having to readjust the hat repeatedly. I know a sun hat brim would be worse, but the added sun protection would be worth it. Plus I'm thinking a wide-brim hat would be more forgiving in the front.

    Any suggestions?

Have you thought of a bucket hat? It has a wide, flexible brim. I'd love to find something like a short-billed ball cap. I'm surprised that with all of the photographer-specific gear that no one's made a hat for SLR shooters. A quick search suggested hats from Tilley.com or OutdoorResearch.com.

This is the one I'm leaning towards. I haven't considered the bucket yet. How is the shade coverage on the bucket? Will it cover my neck with a polo-style collared shirt or a regular t-shirt?

But seriously, you should also consider on that has a neck flap that folds down past the neck for sun protection.

  6. Hahaha! That's great! It might turn inside-out on Space Mountain though.
