One of the things the planning board did during Pixelmania 2014 was discuss all of the things we think we could do better (or at least differently) for next year. One of the first things we decided is to announce the dates MUCH sooner.

Pixelmania 2015 will be the traditional first weekend in December, which next year is December 3-6, 2015. Now you can make your DVC reservations in January.

Here are some of the ideas that we were kicking around. Bear in mind that these are all very preliminary and subject to change. Your feedback is welcome.

Wednesday - Pre-meet dinner at Whispering Canyon, followed by Yehaa Bob
Thursday - Universal all day (probably 9 am - 7 pm). Get your Potter on! Carpooling will be necessary.
Friday - MK, start after noon, MVMCP party night
Saturday - EPCOT starting at 11:00am, Candlelight Processional
Sunday - AK morning, DHS afternoon

Let us know what you think.

Yeeha!!!!! Count me in for next year. Vacation time is already approved for Nov. 30th to Dec. 6th.. Might have to fly home sometime Sunday, but will be there for a majority of it.

In regards to Universal day, the other option might be use one of the shuttle services (depending on group size).

I like the idea of Universal. +1 that!

I would not be against adding another day to the front or back so we don't have to split Sunday. To cover Jeff's comment above, looks like the front would work better for him. Not sure what 2015 will bring to DAK and DHS, but DAK may have an evening show by then.

And I just realized that the tapeworm is now being fed at Whispering Canyon. Can't wait to see how the CM antics fare with us maniacs (will we outshine them?). Oh, and can somebody pass me the ketchup?

Sounds great to me. I would love to go to Universal. I would need a ride since I only use Disney transportation.

Thanks for coming up with the dates so soon. It is really helpful to us DVC members and folks that have to plan their vacation time.

    You are an awesome committee.

Awesome news for me - I'm in for December for sure. Not so sure about a Universal day myself, but if it can be added as a separate day to the 4 Disney Pixelmania days, it would be fine for me as I could just skip that one and hit all the Disney days. If it takes over one of the 4 days, that would be a little disappointing, but not the end of days, so I could live with it. I'm just far too much a Disney fan to spend any time or money at Universal, which holds no appeal whatsoever for me. I fully understand everyone else wanting it though.

I too will skip this but for completely different reasons. I do think its a great idea as it does change up what we have been doing and may interest new people. I will probably do another MK day and hit MVMCP that night as well.

That sounds more like it. In fact, if the Universal Day is a definite addition to the plans, and officially one of the 4 days of Pixelmania, it would probably be a good idea to have an 'alternate' plan for the day for anyone not interested in going to Universal...there might be a goodly handful of people that can still get together and plan a park and some shoot meets or ideas, and give Pixelmania attendees more options to keep things interesting.

The universal day is being added in an attempt to add variety and because many of us haven't been since they added all the potter theme. And that area comes highly recommended as photographers eye candy

I am all for switching things up some. I think it could drum up some other new people as well. My reason for not going is not a Disney v. Universal thing, its more of a wife thing (and I dont want to go down that one!)

How dare you go to wizarding world without me. Sorry hon, it was that evil gary, he told me it was a ride to ice and wouldn't stop the car

  13. Ok .... OG is in ... Possibly I will drive down and if I do I will have my Expedition XL so I can hold 8 total and still have room for our various money traps. If I do not drive, I always get a rental car anyway and will be able to carry 3-4 then plus me. I will go with the crew on whatever you want to do. Let me know if you need any help planning or whatever.

  14. I'm in for next year as well. Are the dates firm?
I can book a bounce back for next year provided the dates work with what Disney is bouncing. Nannette and I are going to Pop Century Nov 16th to the 21st so it would help if I could know for sure to book the room.

Dec. 3-6 can be considered firm. There may be some ongoing debate regarding going to Universal during that time frame or doing it as a separate thing on Dec. 2. That's up to the planning committee, with input from the population at large.

I would definitely need transportation over if hitting Universal. I'm in no matter what we end up doing.

With luck there will be enough of us with rental cars to transport everyone. I personally plan to upgrade from my usual compact to a full-size car that weekend. And if all else fails, there are options like Happy Limo.

Barring another year like this past one, I will certainly be there. But that goes without saying.
PS. You planning board people ROCK!
