Gen Con 2014 is in a few weeks, and I just realized I haven't posted many photos from last year. Here's a familiar face.

I am guessing Sharknado on the one a few back. These are great, and this dude above has the look to go with the great costume.

Some more inhabitats of a galaxy far, far away journeyed to Chicago for C2E2. I didn't know if Max Rebo brought his entire band for an after-hours party or if he was just doing a solo gig. Regardless, it was nice of Max to bring Malakili and his baby rancor along for the trip.

This is a great thread Dennis. I love all the costumes. But you also got some great portrait shots.

Looking forward to seeing what costumes are in store for me at Wizard Chicago in three weeks.

Thanks, Craig. These cons are full of interesting people who are happy to pose for photos.

Jeff, my trips to C2E2 have shown me that Chicago cosplayers are pretty darn good. I have to "settle" for Gen Con in just over a week.

Just finished a looong weekend at Gen Con. Until I can get those shots processed, here's one more from C2E2. How can those people just walk by when Hellboy and Aquaman are engaged in battle right there?

As I sit here watching the latest version of Doctor Who, I thought I'd post a copy of the 7th Doctor from C2E2.

Does anyone know how to get rid of that red cast on his face? Those stupid red carpets that convention centers use drive me crazy.

Dennis, I'll do you one better and give you a photo of a dead ringer for the 11th Doctor...

And one of the funnier things I saw... Mario playing PAC-MAN...

You never know what you'll see at a con. Except for the celebrities, of course; they're known well in advance in order to get people through the doors.

Speaking of celebrities, who besides me thinks Squirrel Girl should be the star of the next Disney/Marvel blockbuster? She'd be a better fit in Animal Kingdom than Avatar. Here she is at the Derby City Comic Con in Louisville.

Speaking of Doctors Who, here are Four and Ten along with the best companion ever, K-9. I spotted the trio at Geek Media Expo in Nashville.

Funny that you posted this. Guess who showed up on Disney XD's "Ultimate Spiderman: Web Warriors" this weekend...

Nice, I'll have to check that out. However, I wish the "teenagers" in that clip had realistic voices. Spidey and SG sounded more like little kids.

Funny thing is that only two main cast members are below the age of 25. Most are aged 30-40. The coolest thing is that some of the actors from the movies are the voices of their characters in the cartoon (J. Jonah Jameson and Agent Coulson). That, and that SpongeBob is Doc Octopus.

    CAST:
Drake Bell – Peter Parker / Spider-Man,[1][25][26] Swarm (2nd appearance)
Ogie Banks – Luke Cage / Power Man[27]
Greg Cipes – Danny Rand / Iron Fist[27]
    Clark Gregg – Phil Coulson[25]
Tom Kenny – Dr. Otto Octavius / Doctor Octopus,[28] Bentley Whittman / Wizard,[29] David Cannon / Whirlwind,[30] Dr. Curt Connors (first few episodes),[31] Aries Zodiac Soldier,[32] Adrian Toomes / Vulture
    Matt Lanter – Harry Osborn,[27] Flash Thompson/Agent Venom,[27] Venom,[33] Ulysses Klaw / Klaw[29]
    Misty Lee – May Reilly-Parker,[27] Salem's Witch,[34] Doreen Green/Squirrel Girl
Caitlyn Taylor Love – Ava Ayala / White Tiger[27]
    Chi McBride – Nick Fury,[25][35] Eiliot Franklin / Thunderball,[36] Taurus Zodiac Soldier[37]
    Logan Miller – Sam Alexander / Nova[27]
    J. K. Simmons – J. Jonah Jameson[7]
Tara Strong – Mary Jane Watson,[27] Thundra,[29] Sandy
    Steven Weber – Norman Osborn / Green Goblin / Goblin-Venom / Iron Patriot,[25][27] Peter Petruski / Trapster[29]

Wow, that's a veritable who's who of the Hollywood voice actors. But I stand behind my opinion - the voice director should have gone for an older sound, which I'm sure every one of those VAs is capable of.

I guess they just figured the heroes were still in high school so give them kid voices. FYI, if you are interested in voice actors, there is a movie on Netflix called "I know that Voice" that interviews many current and former voice actors about their craft. It was very interesting to watch and also see the faces behind the voices.

I have a signed copy of John DiMaggio's "I Know That Voice" DVD that I picked up from him at Indy Pop Con earlier this year. Highly entertaining.

That would be it. (And not "Behind" the Voice). Like I said, it was very interesting to see the faces behind the voices. The best part was when one of the voice actors talked about meeting people in public who don't believe that they are the voice of a character and tells them to close their eyes and listen. Way cool.

Doctor number five (or a reasonable facsimile thereof) put in an appearance at Gen Con 2014.
